Upon the invitation of Mr Piotr Kuliniak, Mayor of Łęknica, we had the opportunity to take part in a working meeting of the teams that will implement the projects “Cultural and natural heritage as a key to the development of tourism in the UNESCO Global Geopark” and “Digital journey through the Muskau Arch Geopark” as part of the funding obtained from the Poland-Saxony 2021-2027 INTERREG Cooperation Programme.
The first project will be implemented by the Municipality of Łęknica (lead partner) and Stadtverwaltung Bad Muskau. The aim of the project is to increase the attractiveness of the support area by maintaining and consciously utilising the potential of the common cultural and natural heritage in the UNESCO Global Geopark Muskau Arch.
The second, in which the Wrocław University of Technology is the leader and TU Bergakademie Freiberg and Geopark Muskauer Faltenbogen / Łul Mużakowa are partners, concerns the development of an augmented reality application providing digital, virtual, models of the region’s mining and geological heritage and the associated intensification of cooperation in the field of digital competence of the public.
During the meeting, we discussed opportunities for effective cooperation between the partners of the two projects, including the exchange of information and the coordination of activities.
We are already looking forward to fruitful cooperation, which will contribute to the successful implementation of the project objectives and the development of the Muskau Arch Geopark.
